Reverso around the word, Singapore
17th February 2011, SIHH Around the World, Singapore. On the last year of the lunar celebrations, more than 60 guests gathered at the Jaeger-LeCoultre Boutique of the glamorous Marina Bay Sands resort, to discover the latest Reverso Collection encapsulating the ultimate expression of horological classicism: Grande Reverso Ultra Thin, Grande Reverso Duo, and Grande Reverso Lady Ultra Thin. Alexis De Laporte, managing director, opened the evening with a prosperous and auspicious number: 8, eight decades to be more precise, the “lucky” anniversary number of the iconic reversible watch. Illustrating the incredible story of the icon, guests were invited to indulge in a little nostalgia, thinking back to March 4th, 1931. On that day, Alfred Chauvot, the French engineer collaborating with Jaques-David LeCoultre and Cesar de Trey, lodged the patent for a revolving watch: “Reverso” … “I turn around”. Among the main horological attractions of the evening, the most sought after watch have probably been the two emblematical timepieces paying tribute to the very 1931 original creation. Some guests might have been part of the owners wishing to share their inspiration with other lovers of Reverso across the globe on the online Virtual Museum. In any case, last night, as a courtesy of Jaeger-LeCoultre’s archives containing hundreds of engraved Reversos, they could admire some remarkable vintage pieces, like two historical one from the 30’s engraved with the initials JHL and PW. For the ladies, the brand new Grande Reverso Lady Ultra Thin and the latest Reverso Duetto Duo appeared in surprising and seductive guises, embraced by the vintage 1931 Reverso cordonnet and the 1996 pendentif. For Jaeger-LeCoultre lovers and owners in Singapore: our two Boutiques, located in the Raffles hotel, and located in the MBS resort, will be hosting more exclusive events in the forthcoming months.
