Protection of sites inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List When it launched the Master Compressor Diving watch, Jaeger-LeCoultre discovered some magnificent, pristine underwater environments. The Brand soon became aware of the vulnerability of these ecosystems and of the need to preserve this biodiversity. In 2008, in order to heighten international public awareness and to support UNESCO in the protection of marine sites inscribed on the World Heritage List, the Manufacture became involved in a partnership named “Tides of Time”. In cooperation with the UNESCO World Heritage Centre, Jaeger-LeCoultre provides support each year to several endangered sites. Thanks to a financial donation, Jaeger-LeCoultre helps to fund the “World Heritage Marine Programme” designed to work with various countries to ensure the conservation of sites already inscribed; to participate in the training of those in charge of the various sites; and provide technical support in identifying new such marine sites. Jaeger-LeCoultre also sponsors the “Tides of Time” pages published in the International Herald Tribune in order to draw readers’ attention to the threats facing these regions due to poaching, the extinction of various species, climate change, pressure from tourism, as well as the general degradation of fauna and flora. It also raises international visibility of the sites inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List via a special link featured on The New York Times/International Herald Tribune website.
