Atmos Marqueterie

ref. 5543307

A genuine work of art, it has an automatically opening cabinet with a decoration that pays tribute to Austrian artist Gustav Klimt, inspired by his painting "The Wait". This exceptional piece, representing several hundred hours of masterful workmanship, involved more than 1,400 elements in precious wood, taken from 35 different species. Complications: 24 hour indication, month and moon-phase indicators.

Several varieties of precious woods are cut into the over 1200 meticulously shaped pieces needed to make these Gustav Klimt-inspired cabinets.

A cabinet fitted with an automatic opening system designed from a gear train and a barrel that are similar, in many ways, to a watchmaking mechanism. The cabinet doors with inlays open onto a second cabinet, entirely in glass, that houses an Atmos with regulating movement.

To coordinate with the intricate inlay work decorating the cabinet, the dial has been designed in an equally sophisticated style: mother-of-pearl, petrified wood hour-markers and a cushion-cut yellow sapphire inlaid at 60 minutes. Disc and moon phase in petrified wood inlaid with diamonds, moon decorated with fine gold.
