After the war, the Royal Air Force set up unprecedented standards of reliability and toughness for its pilot watches. Manufactured in a run of 2950, Jaeger-LeCoultre’s Mark XI became one of the most accurate watches of its time. For the first time, its calibre was protected from magnetic fields by a special soft iron inner case.
