Technique at the service of emotion

Developed by the Manufacture Jaeger-LeCoultre, the groundbreaking the Reverso Répétition Minutes à Rideau, invents a new movement, a new way of seeing and feeling… The Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie, was the setting for Jaeger-LeCoultre to unveil its new watchmaking masterpiece: the first watch with four faces, using a pivoting curtain which masks one dial while revealing the other in alternation. Produced in an edition of only 75 in white gold, the Reverso Répétition Minutes à Rideau is bound to be one of the brand’s most exclusive pieces, and is a fitting tribute to the exclusivity of a movement of such complexity, with its infinite subtle interactions between the movement and the casing, that it can only be assembled and adjusted by a single master watchmaker. Four faces to grace an aesthetic and technical triumph which Jaeger-LeCoultre has crowned with a further tour de force: one of the noblest of watchmaking complications, the minute-repeater mechanism, to mark the passage of time by striking the hours, quarters and minutes on demand, with an unrivalled purity of sound and resonance. While technique can be convincing and appealing, only emotion makes a watch unforgettable, an emotion engendered when a mechanism as miniaturised as it is sophisticated exists purely for the pleasure of our senses. Starting with our sense of touch, when our fingertip slides open the curtain masking one of the faces, while at the same time winding the minute repeater mechanism… a new action offering new sensations… The ear will be enthralled by the sound of the minute repeater, by its unrivalled purity and resonance, due among other things to its trebuchet hammers. And lastly, how to describe the visual pleasure of the owner when his eyes are enthralled by the different faces of the watch, four in all, hidden or revealed when he chooses to open or close the curtain. Subtle interactions between the movement and the casing, smart interplay of the hammers with a mechanism to speed them up just before the resounding impact … quite simply –great art.
