A humanitarian and sporting feat beyond the polar circle, a feat to promote research

Over 4,600 kilometres across Scandinavia in 90 days by handbike: such was the humanitarian and sporting challenge that Yves Néron-Bancel, himself a paraplegic, decided to take up with the support of Jaeger-LeCoultre.

Upon reaching Stockholm, and having already pedalled 3,700 km, Yves had an accident. The bike suddenly picked up speed in a wild descent and Yves was violently thrown out.

Fortunately nothing was broken, but he sustained a number of muscle and tendon injuries. The arrival in Copenhagen was scheduled for August 31 and he still had 750 km to go.

This fabulous cycling adventure thus came to an abrupt end after two and half months and 3,700 kilometres in the saddle.

Jaeger-LeCoultre is proud to have supported this human adventure in which an individual seeks to push the limits of what is deemed humanly possible. The Manufacture encourages these visionary men and women who, through their exceptional talent and the quality of their accomplishments, make a significant contribution to the world we live in.
