Jaeger-LeCoultre and the Jeu de Paume
Jaeger-LeCoultre and the Richard Avedon Exhibition at the Jeu de Paume
In 2006, Jaeger-LeCoultre, the Swiss fine watchmaking reference, announced its commitment to the field of cultural patronage and particularly to the world of photography and film, by associating with the Jeu de Paume, a prestigious institution dedicated to photography and contemporary film, in Paris. Driven by a shared purpose, Jaeger-LeCoultre and the Jeu de Paume joined forces to stage broad-scale patronage operations.
Jaeger-LeCoultre provides ongoing support for the prestigious exhibitions of the Jeu de Paume…
After sponsoring two flagship exhibitions held in the Jeu de Paume in 2006, both dedicated to world-famous American photographers - Cindy Sherman (from May 16th to September 3rd) and Lee Friedlander (from September 19th to December 31st) – and then in 2007 the first European retrospective of the work of photographer Edward Steichen (from October 9th to December 30th).
Today, Jaeger-LeCoultre is associating with the exhibition of works by Richard Avedon entitled “Photographies 1946-2004” and displayed in the Jeu de Paume. This exhibition is the first major retrospective on the work of Richard Avedon ever held in France (in the Concorde premises of the Jeu de Paume). It covers 270 works covering the artist’s career over a period spanning from 1946 to 2004 and includes fashion photographs and portraits of numerous celebrities from the world of politics, literature, art and showbusiness…
