Gyrotourbillon 1

A world first, the spherical tourbillon by Jaeger-LeCoultre is writing a new chapter in the art of watchmaking. Nestling at the heart of Jaeger-LeCoultre Calibre 177, it is combined with fascinating complications: a running equation of time and a perpetual calendar equipped with four retrograde hands. Spherical tourbillon

The spherical tourbillon features two carriages spinning on two axes and freeing the regulating organ from the effects of gravity in all positions. The result is spectacular: the amplitude of the balance is constant, thereby ensuring optimal adjustment and thus exceptional rating precision.

Running equation of time

A minute hand combined with a perpetual calendar and carrying a star displays the true solar time and, depending on the days, varies by a few minutes in relation to civil time.

Retrograde perpetual calendar

The perpetual calendar is equipped with four retrograde hands. One for the months, one for the leap years, as well as two large ones that share the task of sweeping over the broad date scale. The left one covers the first half of the month, and the right-hand one the second half.
