In the context of its partnership with the Venice International Film Festival, Jaeger-LeCoultre is proud to support the Fondazione La Biennale di Venezia in its preservation and restoration of culturally significant motion pictures. This year, to celebrate the 75th anniversary of La Mostra, the Fondazione has restored the acclaimed Italian film from 1932, « Gli uomini che mascalzoni », This film was one of the highlights of the very first edition of the Venice International Film Festival, screened on August 11, 1932.
To raise funds for future restorations, Jaeger-LeCoultre has created a limited series of Reverso watches which is then autographed by major personalities from the world of motion pictures. Among the stars who signed the Reverso at the 2006 Venice International Film Festival are Oliver Stone, Valentino Rossi, Sergio Castellito, Catherine Deneuve, Charlotte Gainsbourg and Josh Hartnett.
These signed, collectors’ pieces from 2006 were auctioned on August 28, 2007, on the eve of the 2007 festival, at a special event hosted by the Biennale di Venezia and famous watch auctioneers, Antiquorum. The entire proceeds from this auction are donated to the “Fund for Cinema”.
