The Rossi legend now features two stellar numbers: 46 and 68…

Jaeger-LeCoultre is proud to associate its 175 years of history with the talent and expertise of Valentino Rossi

To rapturous applause from his “home crowd”, Valentino Rossi carried off a spectacular victory last Sunday in the San-Marino GP at Misano, just ten kilometres from his village of Tavulla (Italy). By winning this race in such masterly fashion, the talented pilot places his name in GP motor-racing history alongside fellow countryman Giacomo Agostino, equalling his record of 68 wins in the 500 cc star category. Rossi benefited from the eight-lap fall of his Australian rival Casey Stoner, in the lead at the moment of the accident, before finishing three seconds ahead of his team-mate, Spaniard Jorge Lorenzo. He thrilled the 50,000-strong crowd that was delighted to see the motorbike bearing the lucky number 46 cross the finish in the lead.

Winner of his third straight Grand Prix race and the sixth of the season, “Il Dottore” Valentino Rossi is heading resolutely towards his eight world championship title with a 75-point lead over Casey Stoner and 77 over Dani Pedroso, and with only five Grand Prix races left and a maximum of 125 points still up for grabs.

The next challenge awaits Rossi on the Indianapolis track on September 14th.
The 29 year-old Italian prodigy Valentino Rossi is one of the greatest motorcycling drivers in history. He has won seven world championship titles and is the only competitor to have won them in four different categories: 125cc, 250c, 500cc and MotoGP.

Final rankings of the Misano MotoGP on August 31st 2008
1- Valentino Rossi (ITA/Yamaha) in 44'41"884
2- Jorge Lorenzo (ESP/Yamaha) at 3"163
3- Toni Elias (ESP/Ducati) at 11"705
4- Dani Pedrosa (ESP/Honda) at 17"470
