The competition:
Jaeger-LeCoultre JUST THE BEST is a match race: a direct elimination competition that in the end is won by the best, who will pick up the precious silver trophy where his name will be engraved. According to tradition, the winner will become Defender and will accept the challenge from other champions and will raffle off the trophy once again the following year.

The competition was on board of Extreme 40, the high-performance catamaran with which America’s Cup team was training at the moment in Valencia. Each sailing team was composed of 4 pro sailors.

The world’s greatest specialists in the discipline vied with each other from June 19th to 22nd off the coast of Cattolica, Italy. The competition was blessed by the wind god Aeolus, since an eastern wind gusted at speeds of 12 to 15 knots, even reaching 18 knots at times. The sun also shone brightly on the Atlantic Riviera.
