The Jaeger-LeCoultre Polo Charity Cup raises £55, 000 in London
Third Jaeger-LeCoultre charity polo game with the World’s best polo players - An auction for two charitable organisations
On Friday June 12th 2009, Guillain Maspetiol, UK Brand Director, welcomed international and local celebrities at the Ham Polo Club in Richmond.
Jaeger-LeCoultre and its Iconic Reverso as well as the best professional polo players joined forces to raise funds on behalf of two charitable organisations dedicated to sport and humanitarian values.
The first exhibition was a ladies’ match featuring two charming Jaeger-LeCoultre Brand Ambassadors: British marchioness Clare Milford Haven and Argentinean Lia Salvo, both wearing their Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Squadra Lady.
In the afternoon, another polo game followed, featuring the world’s best polo player and Jaeger-LeCoultre Brand Ambassador, Adolfo Cambiaso. He was of course wearing his Reverso Squadra. for this occasion. The opposing team was lead by Argentinean professional Lolo Castagnola. His team partner Rachid Albwardy was also wearing his favourite Reverso Squadra Hometime.
An auction with unique prizes was held, from which the full £55,000 proceeds went to ‘Ideas del Sur’, an Argentinean Charity devoted to underprivileged children and the British charity, Maggie’s Cancer Caring Centers.
The brand’s ties with polo go back over 75 years. The Reverso watch appeared in 1931, at the request of British polo players resident in India, who were looking for a watch that would stand up to the blows incurred by the practise of the sport. The firm created this watch, whose swivelling case prevents the glass from breaking. Nowadays, the Manufacture Jaeger-LeCoultre is undoubtedly becoming one of the main actors in the polo world through the sponsorship of international tournaments and some of the best polo players worldwide
