Polo Triple Crown Argentina
Jaeger-LeCoultre and the Squadra claiming the 116th Argentine Polo Open Cup
The 2009 edition of the Argentine Polo Open Championship in Palermo, the moment everybody is awaiting all year long, has just ended.
During this 2009 “Triple Crown”season, the best players are the special emissaries of the Brand and its icon, the Reverso Squadra. They demonstrate that the values of sport and polo are more closely than ever entwined with those of the Haute Horlogerie.
116th Argentine Polo Open, final on December 5th
La Dolfina, with Reverso Squadra’s Ambassadors, Adolfo Cambiaso, frustrated Ellerstina´s hopes of winning the Triple Crown by beating them 17-16 with a goal scored by Mariano Aguerre in a supplementary chukka. La Dolfina won the final for their fifth time.
Pablo Mac Donough received the prize for the MVP of the final, while Adolfo Cambiaso obtained the prize for the best player of the tournament.
Hurlingham Open, November 2009
Things were a bit difficult for this edition of the Hurlingham Open… with heavy rains obliged to delay one day the start of the second tournament of the Triple Crown in Argentina, and next, to postpone the final between Eduardo’s team La Aguada and Ellerstina. Eventually, Ellerstina, after a very balanced match, defeated La Aguada 14-12 and won the second championship of the season, in another step which leads the boys in black to their biggest goal: the Argentine Open and the Triple Crown.
Tortugas Open, October 2009
Ellerstina Etiqueta Negra (inc. Juan Martin Nero) beat Pilará 14-11 in the final of the Tortugas Open, and became the first team to ever claim the first tournament of the Triple Crown in Argentina for three consecutive years. Once again, the boys in black confirmed their first class status as their well deserved 40 goals.
