CRAFTSMANSHIP
80 HOURS OF MINIATURE PAINTING
The miniature-enamel paintings were executed using the Geneva technique, involving at least 14 layers of enamel, each fired at 800°C, and requiring a total of 80 hours of meticulous work. The enameller faced the challenge of precisely reproducing every detail on a scale of 2 cm².
MASTERING LIGHT & PERSPECTIVE
Recreating Turner's ethereal light, shimmering water, and illusion of depth was a demanding challenge, requiring intricate enamelling techniques. This involved working across multiple enamel planes and building layers of varying thickness, alongside the use of paillonage with silver leaf and translucent enamel for water effects.
GUILLOCHÉ ENAMELLED DIAL
The subtle lavender tint in the blue sky is carried over to the Grand Feu enamel dial, where a wavy hand-guilloché pattern evokes the rippling reflections of light on Venice’s canals. The horizontal wave guilloché is achieved through 41 precisely engraved lines, each requiring nine successive passes with a wide and in-depth décor, for a total of 369 passages.

JOSEPH MALLORD WILLIAM TURNER
J.M.W Turner (1771-1851), a highly influential Western landscape painter, explored industrialization and social change through his art. Rejecting realism, he developed an expressive style using loose brushstrokes, color, and light to evoke emotion, transforming landscape painting. His work anticipated modern art, profoundly influencing Impressionism and Abstract Expressionism.
VENICE, TURNER’S ENDURING FASCINATION
Turner was deeply fascinated by Venice, inspired by Shakespeare and Byron, and made three late-summer journeys to the city (1819, 1833, 1840). During these visits, he prolifically produced around 150 watercolours and 900 drawings in under four weeks, with his oil paintings of Venice created later in his London studio.
THE BRIDGE OF SIGHS
In his 1840 Venice painting, Turner captures the city's beauty and decline, contrasting a darker foreground with glowing, reflected light on buildings. Silver paillons beneath the enamel enhance the water's exceptional texture and ever-changing reflections. Through human figures, he expresses concern for profound social and economic changes.

The manually wound calibre 822 that drives the Reverso Tribute Enamel Turner watch is the epitome of Jaeger-LeCoultre’s philosophy. Entirely designed, produced and assembled in-house, calibre 822 is an uncommon rectangular movement allowing it to fit in the Reverso watch case.

THE BIRTH OF AN ICON
In 1931, Jaeger-LeCoultre launched a watch that was destined to become a classic of 20th-century design: the Reverso. As an object that so deftly synthesised form and function, it has become one of the most recognisable watches of all time, looking as fresh and modern today as when it first appeared.
While its blank metal flip side had begun as a purely functional solution to avoid damage to the dial, it was an ideal surface for personalisation with monograms, emblems or personal messages using lacquer, engraving, enamel or gemstones.
