OVERVIEW
CALIBRE 101 IN A BANGLE SILHOUETTE
DESIGN
SCULPTURAL BANGLE
With its contemporary bangle design and sculptural silhouette, the Calibre 101 Chain effortlessly blends miniature watchmaking with a jewellery aesthetic. An understated companion, it is designed to enter into an elegant dialogue with your everyday style.
HERITAGE RECAST IN A MODERN SILHOUETTE
The bangle design draws its inspiration from a 1955 Duoplan model, nicknamed ‘Chain’, part of the Collectibles Capsule VII in Hong Kong. The timepiece, totalling nearly 74 grams of solid gold, was presented on a solid gold chain bracelet of heavy and polished links. Today, this heritage is elegantly reinterpreted in a contemporary bangle silhouette.
DELICATE BRAIDED AESTHETIC
Guided by a jewellery-led design philosophy, the Calibre 101 Chain is conceived as a harmonious creative statement. This vision comes to life in the braided effect on the sides of the bangle. Behind its quiet aesthetic hides a complex form designed to be paired with your personal style, bringing a touch of understated elegance to any daily look.
CRAFTSMANSHIP
BOLD EXPRESSION OF CRAFTS
Born from more than 300 hours of research and development, the contemporary Calibre 101 Chain is crafted using a unique and complex casting process. It is elevated by traditional jewellery codes and the innovative use of high-gloss black HyCeram® technology, celebrating the creative freedom of the legendary Calibre 101.
SCULPTING THE FORM WITH HYCERAM®
The Calibre 101 Chain is created through casting, using unique moulds created specifically for each timepiece. Once cast, the surface is meticulously refined: the 36 existing HyCeram® recesses are carefully finished to ensure clean edges, before the openings for the diamonds are precisely drilled. The recesses of the gold bracelet are then hand-filled with HyCeram® using a syringe. The material is then precisely processed under pressure and heat, before being polished to reveal its depth and reflection.
ADORNING WITH A TOUCH OF DIAMONDS
The bangle is then passed to a master gem-setter in the Métiers Rares™ atelier who hand-sets the 158 brilliant-cut diamonds. This creates a captivating contrast between the brilliance of the diamonds and the deep, glossy black HyCeram®, offering an aesthetic that blends traditional craftsmanship with innovative materials.
CALIBRE
MANUFACTURE CALIBRE 101
Born in 1929 and based on the two-level architecture of the Duoplan patented in 1925, the Calibre 101 is the world’s smallest rectangular manual-winding movement. It requires 40 hours of work to assemble its 98 components and weighs nearly one gram, which is barely the weight of two butterflies.
CALIBRE
HERITAGE
REINVENTED SINCE 1929
The Calibre 101 is the oldest calibre still in production at the Manufacture. It has powered some of the most emblematic high jewellery watches and animated hundreds of different designs.
