PROTECTING OUR ENVIRONMENT

ENVIRONMENT

PROTECTING

MAKE OUR TIME BETTER

Since the beginning of Jaeger-LeCoultre’s history, the exceptional beauty and biodiversity of the Vallée de Joux has served as a profound source of inspiration. Deeply rooted in this unique landscape, we are convinced of the importance of playing our part in preserving the natural world around us.

Reducing our environmental footprint remains an ongoing journey. Through our best efforts, we work to manage our greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and support biodiversity conservation within the Vallée de Joux, guided by dedicated local action plans and environmental stewardship.

EDUCATE

ENVIRONMENTAL COMMITTEE

For over ten years, our Manufacture's Environmental Committee has implemented guidelines on eco-responsible actions and continues to meet to propose new awareness-raising initiatives, particularly during Environment Week.

We regularly organize Climate Fresco workshops, a three-hour collaborative training session that allows all our volunteer teams to understand the fundamental science behind climate change.

BIODIVERSITY

Our approach to protecting ecosystems is guided by Richemont’s Environmental Code of Conduct and Supplier Code of Conduct (SCoC). These frameworks provide a foundation for assessing environmental risks, encouraging our partners to minimize their impact on natural habitats and to seek opportunities for conservation within their activities.

Richemont undertook an initial biodiversity screening to assess its biodiversity impact and identify high priority risks and opportunities across its supply chains. Building on this foundation, Jaeger-LeCoultre launched its biodiversity action plan in 2025, informed by a detailed expert inventory conducted in 2024. During Fiscal Year 2026, practical measures implemented at the Maisons’ manufacturing sites included the installation of nesting boxes, the planting of native shrubs, the adoption of differentiated mowing techniques, and the creation of dedicated wildlife shelters.

Furthermore, our redesigned watch box represents a 93% reduction in its plastic footprint. Within our Manufacture, we are systematically phasing out single-use plastics by transitioning to refillable glass bottles and reusable mugs.

SHAPING THE FUTURE

Surrounded by nature, it is meaningful for Jaeger-LeCoultre to take part in the promotion and preservation of local biodiversity.

Our Maison turned to Mr. Sven Aubert, a Swiss market gardener from Bioux, to create, cultivate and harvest our own vegetable garden. This initiative aims to promote short circuits and raise awareness of good practices. The vegetables grown are made available to all our employees.

Since 2011, thanks to a collaboration with a local beekeeper, our hives can welcome between 500,000 and 600,000 bees during the high bee season.

ENERGY & CLIMATE

Towards a Low-Carbon Manufacture

Reducing our carbon footprint across our direct operations is an ongoing journey that demonstrates how traditional craftsmanship and performance energy solutions can seamlessly coexist.

Transition to Renewable Heating

A landmark milestone was reached by connecting our manufacturing facility to the Le Sentier biomass district heating network in October 2024, replacing our legacy oil-fired system. This transition enabled the Manufacture to report zero Scope 1 emissions from stationary combustion within agreed parameters in 2025. This connection saves approximately 130,000 litres of fuel oil and avoids around 350 tCO2e of emissions annually.

Local Commitments Fulfilled

We successfully achieved the targets of our Target Agreement established with the local authorities for the 2016–2025 period. This success was made possible through the rigorous implementation of 67 distinct energy performance actions across our facilities.

Building Energy Conservation

Our structural renovations continue to drive daily resource efficiency. Notably, we continuously invest in the architectural preservation of our historic Manufacture, ensuring that the protection of our physical heritage goes hand-in-hand with modern standards of thermal efficiency and energy optimization.
