OVERVIEW
UNIQUENESS: LA VALLÉE DES MERVEILLES™
LA VALLÉE DES MERVEILLES™
THE SPIRIT OF LA VALLÉE DES MERVEILLES™
Drawing profound inspiration from the ever-evolving rhythms of nature, La Grande Maison is rooted in the serene Vallée de Joux. This connection culminates in La Vallée des Merveilles™, Jaeger-LeCoultre's exclusive series of limited-edition timepieces. Each creation is a tribute to the world's most magnificent natural sceneries. Our craftsmen meticulously transform this beauty into miniature works of art, brought to life through our Métiers Rares™.
WHERE REAL MEETS IMAGINED
On the Hawaiian Islands, born from still-active volcanoes, secret valleys shelter lush tropical forests. They are populated by exotic birds that feed on the nectar of vividly coloured flowers. The timepiece is an artistic interpretation of Hawaii’s Kauai Island, shaped by the creativity of our designers, suspended between reality and imagination.
DESIGN
AN ODE TO NATURAL SCENERIES
Defined by its rectangular reversible case, refined Art Deco brackets and the use of precious materials, the Reverso One presents an endless canvas for artistry. Its distinct personality is evident at first sight: its luminous mother-of-pearl dial subtly reflects light, while its diamond-set crown adds a signature sparkle.
MOSAIC-LIKE DESIGN
The image is composed of two distinct sections on different levels. The background, representing the sky, features custom-cut pieces with wavy lines that provide visual depth, enhanced by vivid blue tones. On the upper level, an Akialoa and hibiscus flowers are depicted, with the two sections meticulously fitted together, like a mosaic, to form a seamless image.
NATURE-INSPIRED ART SCENE
On the reverse side of the timepiece an Akialoa is depicted hovering, sipping nectar from a blue hibiscus flower. The design features foliage surrounding a second hibiscus bloom, whose golden pistil glows. The flowers and foliage are presented with rich blue and green nuances, creating depth and life.
CRAFTSMANSHIP
CREATED BY OUR MÉTIERS RARES™ ATELIER
Each timepiece limited to 20 pieces showcases watchmaking and High Jewellery expertise in an artistic expression decorated by our Métiers Rares™ atelier. The vibrant hibiscus flowers, the delicate foliage, and the graceful Akialoa come to life through the technique of Grand Feu champlevé enamelling, offering colours of striking vivacity. The case is magnified by grain-setting, bearing witness to unparalleled craftsmanship.
THE DELICACY OF PAILLONNAGE
The piece's first decorative art is the paillonné enamel. This exceptionally refined technique involves meticulously cutting a 24K gold leaf (999/1000) fragment to perfectly fit the dimensions of the pattern. Once in place, the fragment is secured on the gold base and enveloped by successive layers of translucent enamel, creating life on the design.
THE CHALLENGE OF ENAMEL
The 18K pink gold (750/1000) case is sculpted into two levels: the lower level receives custom-cut elements, decorated with laser-engraved wavy lines, lacquered, and fitted to the case like a mosaic. The hollows of the upper level are filled with thin layers of Grand Feu champlevé enamel, each layer fired at up to 800°C to fuse and reveal its colour.
THE PATIENCE OF GEM-SETTING
The gem-setter spends hours meticulously positioning the 335 grain-set diamonds on the 18K pink gold case. This technique involves creating holes on the case and raising tiny metal beads from the surface, which are then pushed over the diamonds to secure each stone. A single reverse-set diamond on the crown adds a distinctive touch of sophistication.
CALIBRE
IN-HOUSE CALIBRE 846
Commensurate with the beauty of Métiers Rares™, the watch is powered with the in-house Calibre 846. With a power reserve of 50 hours, the manually wound movement comprises 93 components and is shaped to fit the rectangular Reverso One case.
