OVERVIEW
UNIQUENESS: LA VALLÉE DES MERVEILLES™
LA VALLÉE DES MERVEILLES™
THE SPIRIT OF LA VALLÉE DES MERVEILLES™
Set in the serene Vallée de Joux, La Grande Maison draws enduring inspiration from nature’s ever-changing rhythms. With La Vallée des Merveilles™, Jaeger-LeCoultre creates exclusive series of limited-edition timepieces, each conceived as a celebration of the world's most magnificent natural sceneries. Our craftsmen transform this beauty into miniature works of art, brought to life by our Métiers Rares™.
BEYOND REALITY, INTO IMAGINATION
Created by the power of active volcanoes, the Hawaiian Islands conceal secluded valleys where lush tropical forests flourish. These verdant sanctuaries are home to exotic birds, sustained by the nectar of coloured flowers. The timepiece is an artistic interpretation of Hawaii’s Kauai Island, shaped by the creativity of our designers, suspended between reality and imagination.
DESIGN
HONOURING NATURAL SCENERIES
With its rectangular reversible case, refined Art Deco brackets and the use of precious materials, the Reverso One opens an infinite canvas for artistic expression. From the very first glance, the Reverso One announces its character. Its luminous mother-of-pearl dial captures light with subtle reflection, while the crown, delicately set with a diamond, adds a signature sparkle.
GLIMPSE OF THE DECOR
Complementing the first glance, the diamond setting and Métiers Rares™ techniques on the timepiece gracefully wrap around the curved case sides, extending seamlessly from the bezel to the reverse side. This continuous flow offers a captivating preview of the artistry, subtly inviting the eye to follow the design and discover the complete, breathtaking scene as the case is reversed.
DIALOGUE BETWEEN NATURE AND ART
Once the case is reversed, the timepiece showcases an Akialoa gracefully hovering above a vivid red hibiscus flower. The design of the Akialoa, the hibiscus flower, and the lush tropical greenery embody nature’s splendour, rendered in vivid tones of red, blue, and green. These colours are subtly graduated to achieve a captivating three-dimensional effect and an impression of dynamic movement. The pistil of the hibiscus flower is further highlighted with a golden accent.
CRAFTSMANSHIP
MÉTIERS RARES™ SHOWCASING ARTISTRY
Crafted as an exclusive edition of just 20, each timepiece represents a harmonious fusion of horological precision and the artistry of High Jewellery, meticulously brought to life by our Métiers Rares™ atelier. The vivid red hibiscus blossom, intricate foliage, and graceful Akialoa are depicted with breathtaking realism through Grand Feu champlevé enamelling, creating a palette of vibrant colours. The case is further adorned with grain-setting and snow-setting, serving as an ode to craftsmanship.
THE INTRICACY OF PAILLONNAGE
The first craft that expresses itself on the piece is the paillonné enamel. This highly specialised technique involves meticulously cutting a 24K gold leaf (999/1000) fragment to perfectly fit the dimensions of the design. The fragment is then carefully laid onto the gold base and sealed under multiple layers of translucent enamel, creating depth and luminosity that bring the motif to life.
THE CHALLENGE OF ENAMEL
The second craft to reveal its subtle mastery on the piece is Grand Feu champlevé enamel. The hollows of the art scene are meticulously filled with successive, thin layers of enamel, each application undergoing precise firing at up to 800°C to fuse and progressively unveil its intended colour. The red colour of the hibiscus flower is one of the most difficult colours to obtain in enamelling.
THE DUAL ARTISTRY
The final craft, gem-setting, elevates the timepiece to unparalleled brilliance. A gem-setter dedicates 100 hours to meticulously positioning 645 diamonds, employing grain and snow-setting techniques. The latter, a particularly complex technique, involves creating holes on the 18K pink gold (750/1000) case and securing stones of 9 distinct sizes extremely close with tiny metal beads. The gem-setter personally selects and determines the precise placement of each individual diamond, making each piece kind of unique.
CALIBRE
IN-HOUSE CALIBRE 846
Reflecting the artistry of the Métiers Rares™, the watch is powered by the Manufacture's in-house Calibre 846. This manually wound movement, meticulously crafted from 93 components, offers a 50-hour power reserve and is shaped to perfectly integrate within the rectangular Reverso One case.
