OVERVIEW
A BREAKTHROUGH IN PRECISION
Before the creation of the Duometre, adding complications to a watch movement seemed irreconcilable with accurate timekeeping. Invented and patented in 2007, the Duometre mechanism features two barrels and two independent gear trains: one for timekeeping and one for complications – linked to a single escapement. By separating the power supply in this way, the Duomètre mechanism guarantees an exceptionally high degree of operating accuracy.
CALIBRE
REVOLUTIONARY MECHANICS
Thanks to the ingenious Duometre mechanism, the Manufacture added a new chapter to watchmaking history, opening the door to unprecedented horological complexity and laying the foundation of an entire Duometre collection with new watch complications.
HERITAGE
THE ESSENCE OF EXCEPTIONAL INNOVATION
In 1881, the Manufacture created the Calibre 19/20RMSMI, a calibre with two barrels. Housed in a pocket watch, it was an inspiration for the Duometre collection both for its mechanism and its design. On this pocket watch, both barrels work in conjunction and inspired our watchmakers to push inventiveness further by adding a second gear train linked to the second barrel.
THE MASTERY OF PRECISION
The pursuit of precision is a central tenet of the Maison since it was established in 1833 by Antoine LeCoultre. An inventor even before he taught himself watchmaking, Antoine LeCoultre was obsessed by precision and his spirit continues to drive the Manufacture’s watchmakers today.
OUR NOVELTIES
Resolving the fundamental problem of complex mechanical watches, the Duometre mechanism pushes the boundaries of watchmaking and epitomises the concept of precision. Discover the four latest expressions of the collection.
DESIGN
POCKET-WATCHES INSPIRED
The case is a contemporary interpretation of the Savonette pocket watches created by the Maison in the 19th century. With its convex crystal and gracefully rounded bezel, it is composed of 34 separate parts with screwed lugs, and a mixture of finishes creating a fascinating play of light.
A SIGNATURE DIAL
The triangular arrangement of the dial is a signature of the Duometre watch collection. It directly expresses the underlying mechanism with its two barrels and gear trains. Made in several sections, the counters create an intriguing contrast between the finishes with a mix of opaline, brushed and azuré surfaces.
NOBLE ART OF WATCHMAKING TRADITION
The fine decorations are carried over to the movement, even on components not visible through the sapphire crystal caseback: brushed surfaces contrast with perlage, edges are hand-bevelled and polished, and sunrayed Geneva stripes seamlessly across the entire expanse of the bridges.
MADE IN OUR MANUFACTURE
From its calibre to its case, every Jaeger‑LeCoultre luxury watch is designed, manufactured and assembled under one roof, at our Manufacture in the Vallee de Joux. Our obsession with quality is renowned as every Jaeger‑LeCoultre model undergoes strict “1,000 Hour Control” testing. This unique program provides internal certification tests that far exceed official chronometry tests.
It includes movement testing before and after casing and extends throughout assembly, according to conditions that match daily wear. A quality seal is engraved on the back of every watch once it meets our strict standards.
