OVERVIEW
MASTER HYBRIS ARTISTICA CALIBRE 945
CRAFTSMANSHIP
A SYNTHESIS OF CRAFTS AND MECHANICS
The artistic mastery of Jaeger-LeCoultre’s Métiers Rares™ elevates Calibre 945, where traditional craftsmanship meets celestial inspiration.
A DIAL ECHOING THE LAYERS OF SKY
Tributing the dome of the night sky above us, the dial is constructed on multiple levels, dominated by a domed structure that also wraps around the Cosmotourbillon. Visible around the edge of the dome and beneath the tourbillon, the deepest level of the dial is decorated with transferred white inscriptions for the names of the months, and the tourbillon seconds.
CELESTIAL GRISAILLE ENAMEL DIAL
Hand-decorated at the Manufacture's Métiers Rares™ atelier, the dial features grisaille enamel, a demanding 16th-century technique revived by the Maison. Successive firings compose a deep blue background, upon which the celestial motif is hand-painted with white powdered enamel known as “Blanc de Limoges”. Layer by layer, it creates subtle chiaroscuro contrasts and a remarkable three-dimensional depth.
FUNCTIONS
THE COSMOS ON THE WRIST
The sky chart maps the constellations as seen from the Manufacture in real time. The Cosmotourbillon is composed of 73 components alone to allow a complete revolution around the center of the dial in one sidereal day (23 hours, 56 minutes and 4 seconds).
CHIMING CONSTELLATIONS
Calibre 945 also unites the astronomical complications with a minute repeater, one of the strongest of the Maison thanks to its trébuchet hammers and cathedral crystal gongs. The technical difficulty lies in the complexity of the mechanism needed to transcribe the precise time shown by the hands into a series of perfectly programmed strikes, with different sounds for hours, quarters and minutes.
A TOURBILLON ORBITING AROUND THE DIAL
Transcending its traditional role as a gravity-defying regulating organ, the patented Cosmotourbillon is a flying 60-second tourbillon that orbits the dial anti-clockwise in one sidereal day. Moving in perfect tandem with a Northern Hemisphere sky chart, it tracks the real-time movement of the constellations as seen from the Vallée de Joux, the home of the Manufacture since 1833.
CALIBRE
CALIBRE 945: THE CELESTIAL GRANDE COMPLICATION
The essence of Calibre 945 is the way in which it interprets astronomical timekeeping for the wrist, using the dial to display the cosmos. Having fully mastered sidereal time, Jaeger-LeCoultre’s watchmakers have created this one-of-a-kind calibre that brings celestial complications and a minute repeater together in a fascinating way.

DESIGN
INSPIRED BY THE PLANETS’ MOVEMENTS
Calibre 945 stands as a testament to Jaeger-LeCoultre's mastery of celestial complications. Its design translates the complexity of the heavens into an expression of understated elegance, balancing the technical virtuosity of the orbiting Cosmotourbillon with a minute repeater and a celestial map.
The Master Hybris Artistica Calibre 945 unites La Grande Maison’s artistic creativity with technical ingenuity.
HERITAGE
THE WATCHMAKER OF WATCHMAKERS
Always striving to surpass itself, La Grande Maison has created more than 1400 calibres and registered over 430 patents. From the very beginning, our master craftsmen and women have created exceptional calibres which were sold to the great Swiss watchmakers, earning Jaeger-LeCoultre the nickname of "Watchmaker of Watchmakers".
