A 5mm thin automatic Tourbillon Minute Repeater calibre

MASTER HYBRIS MECHANICA ULTRA THIN MINUTE REPEATER TOURBILLON

Universally acclaimed not only for its technical ambition but also for its aesthetic purity, the Master Hybris Mechanica Ultra Thin Minute Repeater Tourbillon unites a minute repeater with a flying tourbillon in a 5mm thick automatic calibre. It is a true testament to La Grande Maison’s inventiveness and exceptional watchmaking skill.

OVERVIEW

THE WORLD’S THINNEST AUTOMATIC MINUTE REPEATER TOURBILLON

DESIGN

THREE SAPPHIRE BRIDGES AS NEW LENS

Going beyond traditional skeletonization, this movement is built around three sapphire crystal bridges that are structurally integral to the calibre. Fully transparent, they reveal the entire operating sequence of the minute repeater, from the silent governor to the snails and hammers. This innovation allows every mechanical interaction to be seen in motion while preserving the calibre’s technical integrity. Since direct setting into the sapphire was not feasible, 18K Pink Gold (750/1000) chatons were ingeniously employed to set the eleven rubies in the three sapphire bridges.

14 HIGH WATCHMAKING FINISHES

This calibre showcases the decorative mastery of the Manufacture through 14 distinct finishing techniques, including polishing, perlage, linear brushing, Côtes de Genève and snailling. Executed across eight specialised workshops, it features 60 hand-bevelled components and 48 inner angles. A true demonstration of the finishing savoir-faire of Jaeger-LeCoultre.

MÉTIERS RARES™ OSCILLATING WEIGHT

Encircling the calibre, a white gold dial forms a refined ring that frames the movement and reveals the winding rotor. Crafted in 18K pink gold, the oscillating weight cover is hand-guilloché in the Métier Rares™ atelier, creating a subtle play of depth and light. For visual harmony, the applied pink gold hour markers and Jaeger-LeCoultre logo echo the warm tone of the 18K pink gold (750/1000) hands, case, and rotor.

FUNCTIONS

PURSUIT OF THINNESS IN 5MM

At its core, four elements coexist in extreme proximity: the regulating organ, the tourbillon, the minute repeater, and the automatic winding system. Each was engineered from the ground up to eliminate unnecessary height.

INTEGRATED MINUTE REPEATER

In most watches, a minute repeater is added as a module, stacked on top of an existing calibre. Calibre 362 takes the opposite approach. The minute repeater is fully integrated into the architecture of the movement itself, fitting in only one third of the calibre while featuring the top of the line innovations namely the patented silent-timelapse reduction system and trebuchet hammers.

FLYING TOURBILLON AND BALANCE WHEEL

Calibre 362 features a flying tourbillon, eliminating the upper bridge and cage of the tourbillon. The balance wheel is flying, mounted directly on a ceramic ball bearing, animated with a patented S-shape hairspring invented to allow such rotations of a tourbillon without a cage.

OSCILLATING WEIGHT IN ORBIT

Rotating around the movement’s edge, the peripheral oscillating weight adds zero thickness while offering an unobstructed view of the calibre. Mounted on 36 ceramic ball bearings, it winds the mainspring efficiently, powered solely by the motion of the wrist.

CALIBRE

Calibre 362 is a technical tour-de-force utilising sapphire bridges as integral part of the movement to reveal the invisible.

A LEGACY OF THIN CALIBRES

The Maison’s distinguished history of ultra-thin watchmaking derives from its quest of marrying technical sophistication to aesthetic refinement. A milestone, which has inspired the pursuit of thinness and elegance, was the association between Edmond Jaeger and Jacques-David LeCoultre, which gave birth to one of the world’s thinnest pocket watch in 1907.

LIMITED EDITION OF 10 PIECES

With seven patents, the Master Hybris Mechanica Ultra Thin Minute Repeater Tourbillon is an eloquent testimony to the Manufacture’s perpetual quest for pushing the boundaries of horological innovation in a limited edition of 10 pieces.
