High-tech ceramic

A blend of zirconium and yttrium oxides subjected to high pressure at a temperature in excess of 2000°C, this high-tech ceramic is then ground using special diamond crystal tipped tools to shape the case. It features peerless resistance and stability.

The fascination of complications

The tourbillon comes to life in a titanium cage with bevelled, drawn, polished and ruthenium-coated edges. The patented date hand makes a larger jump between the 31st and the 1st day to ensure the escape mechanism is always visible. The display also includes a second time zone with AM/PM indication.

Avant-garde materials

For the first time, the Jaeger-LeCoultre Calibre 988 incorporates the patented oscillating weight of the Master Compressor Extreme LAB. Its geometrical shape and the use of avant-garde materials (platinum and iridium alloy, carbon fibre) afford a notable improvement in winding performance.
