CRAFTSMANSHIP
A SYMPHONY OF ARTISTRY
The Reverso Hybris Artistica Calibre 179 Pegasus is a noble expression of the 180 skills brought together under one roof at the Manufacture Jaeger-LeCoultre – a remarkable collaboration between watchmakers and artisans at the peak of their craft.
THE ENGRAVING ART
The hand-engraved case showcases rare artistic sensibility, precision, and dexterity. A master engraver dedicates 180 hours to each watch, creating a sculptural relief of Pegasus against clouds. This intricate engraving wraps seamlessly around the convex case, obscuring the join between its sections and enhancing the sense of volume through reflections and shadows.
THE LACQUERING ART
The cloud motif from Pegasus is echoed on the front dial, featuring two 18K pink gold plates at different levels. Over 50 hollows are hand-filled with multiple layers of blue lacquer, creating a flush, cloud-shaped decoration that enhances the time display and tourbillon. Open-worked, dark blue lacquered bridges between the plates offer a glimpse of the movement, embodying the Hybris philosophy of combining mechanical and decorative art.
CALIBRE
THE MECHANICAL INGENUITY
Representing mechanical sophistication to reach the utmost timekeeping precision, Calibre 179 features the innovative multi-axis tourbillon. Associated with the Duoface complication, it displays a different time zone on each dial as well as a 24-hour indicator for the second time zone on the reverse dial.
MOVEMENT
BEATING PRECISION
The Manufacture’s engineers have created an hemispherical balance spring – which expands and contracts like a beating heart-, adding aesthetic refinement at the heart of the Gyrotourbillon, as well as being highly efficient.
THE FASTEST GYROTOURBILLON
Visually enthralling to observe as it pirouettes around its twin axes, the Gyrotourbillon is a highly complex structure of 123 components. Fastest ever, the inner tourbillon cage rotates 360 degrees every 16 seconds and the peripheral movement makes a full rotation once per minute.
DESIGN
AESTHETICS FOR THE SAKE OF PERFORMANCE
Designed with stylistic codes borrowed from Art Deco, the Reverso Hybris Artistica Calibre 179 Pegasus offers two distinct faces treasured up in the complex Reverso swivelling case. One dial showcases the mastery of decorative crafts and the second one expresses the technical ingenuity of our watchmakers.
