UNIQUENESS: LA VALLÉE DES MERVEILLES™

LA VALLÉE DES MERVEILLES™

THE ESSENCE OF LA VALLÉE DES MERVEILLES™

Rooted in the serene Vallée de Joux, La Grande Maison draws profound inspiration from the ever-evolving rhythms of nature. The culmination of this connection is La Vallée des Merveilles™, Jaeger-LeCoultre's exclusive series of limited-edition timepieces. Each creation is a tribute to the world's most magnificent natural sceneries. Our craftsmen meticulously transform this beauty into miniature works of art, brought to life through our Métiers Rares™.

THE EDGE OF REALITY AND DREAM

The Hawaiian Islands, sculpted by their active volcanoes, are home to valleys that nurture abundant tropical forests. These landscapes are inhabited by exotic birds, which are sustained by the nectar of vibrantly coloured flowers. The timepiece is an artistic interpretation of Hawaii’s Kauai Island, shaped by the creativity of our designers, suspended between reality and imagination.

DESIGN

HONOURING NATURAL SCENERIES

The Reverso One, by its rectangular reversible case, refined Art Deco brackets and the use of precious materials, offers an infinite canvas for artistic expression. Its unique personality is immediately apparent; the luminous mother-of-pearl dial beautifully captures and subtly reflects light, while a diamond-set crown adds a signature, refined sparkle.

AN INTRICATE ASSEMBLY

The visual narrative is presented across a sophisticated dual-layered construction. The lower level, designed to evoke the vastness of the sky, is embellished with custom-cut pieces with wavy lines, further enriched by vivid blue tones. Positioned on the upper level, an Akialoa and hibiscus flowers are artfully rendered, with the two sections meticulously fitted together, like a finely crafted mosaic, to form a seamless image.

WHERE NATURE BECOMES ART

Adorning the reverse side of the timepiece, a captivating scene unfolds: an Akialoa is gracefully suspended, drawing nectar from a vivid blue hibiscus blossom. The intricate design further showcases lush foliage encircling a second hibiscus bloom, its golden pistil radiating a gentle luminescence. The entire composition, with its rich blue and green nuances, creates depth and life.

CRAFTSMANSHIP

THE ARTISTRY OF MÉTIERS RARES™

Each timepiece limited to just 20 pieces represents a sophisticated fusion of precision watchmaking and exquisite High Jewellery artistry, meticulously brought to life by our Métiers Rares™ atelier. The design vividly portrays vibrant hibiscus flowers, delicate foliage, and a graceful Akialoa, all rendered with remarkable brilliance through Grand Feu champlevé enamelling. The watch's case and bracelet are elevated by intricate grain-setting, showcasing unparalleled craftsmanship.

THE DELICACY OF PAILLONNAGE

The piece's first decorative art is the paillonné enamel. This sophisticated technique involves cutting a 24K gold leaf (999/1000) to precisely fit the design. Once set on the gold base, the fragment is sealed under multiple applications of translucent enamel, creating a profound depth and brilliant luminosity that brings life to the design.

THE CHALLENGE OF ENAMEL

Crafted from 18K pink gold (750/1000), the reverse side of the case features a two-level construction. The lower level is adorned with custom-cut pieces that are laser-engraved with wavy patterns, then blue lacquered and fitted to the case like a mosaic. On the upper level, layers of Grand Feu champlevé enamel are applied, with every layer being fired at up to 800°C to ensure the full expression of its colour.

THE PATIENCE OF GEM-SETTING

The gem-setter dedicates 111 hours to the precise placement of 719 grain-set diamonds for the case and the bracelet. This intricate grain-setting technique involves creating holes on the 18K pink gold case for each diamond, followed by raising tiny metal beads from the surface. These beads are then meticulously pushed over the diamonds to firmly secure each gem.
