Master Grand Tourbillon Continents
Using a painstaking process involving the champlevé technique in which the design is hollowed out with a burin to form of cells and troughs representing the pattern to be reproduced on the gold dial, the surface of each continent has been meticulously engraved and engine-turned facing the four cardinal points, indicated on the bezel, while the depths of the oceans are displayed using a wavelike pattern. The layers of translucent enamel reveal the underlying engraved patterns thereby imparting an extraordinary depth and intensity of colour to this watchmaking planisphere. The bezel is engraved with the geographic coordinates of the central point of the motif that lies at the centre of the hand shafts.

Celebration of a precious artJaeger-LeCoultre is one of the few remaining manufactures to carry on the noble tradition of watches with a grand feu enamel dial, thanks to enamel artists who are deeply passionate about their craft. It takes weeks of intense concentration, patience and extraordinary skill to produce these miniatures. |
Translucent enamelInspired by a technique used in watchmaking since the Renaissance, it involves two crafts: engraving and enamelling. The translucent enamel is closely bonded to its metal backing. It allows the subtly engraved surfaces to show through, amplifying and increasing the interplay of light, while creating a unique sense of depth. |
The TourbillonThe efficient tourbillon regulator elegantly combines high technology with fine watchmaking. The tourbillon cage is made from a special, very light, grade 5 titanium alloy to reduce the energy consumed and the inertia. The tourbillon’s 78 components, including a large-sized balance, only weigh 0.28 grams. |
