Minute Repeater Watch for Men

Minute Repeater Watch for Men

Precision of movement and technical mastery have always been the guiding force behind Jaeger-LeCoultre’s vocation. With its minute repeater watches for men, the famous Swiss Manufacture once again demonstrates its craftsmanship, constantly pushing the boundaries of fine watchmaking.

How does a minute repeater watch work?

A minute repeater watch allows the wearer to hear the time on demand at the touch of a button. Particularly handy in the dark or when the dial is difficult to read, this watchmaking complication is one of the most sophisticated. It is based on a set of hammers that strike gongs to produce distinct sounds: a low tone for the hours, a high-low combination for the quarters and a high tone for the minutes.

Once activated, a minute repeater watch rings out in a specific way. For example, at 02:49, it will produce two low tones for the hours, three high-low sequences to represent the three quarters (45 minutes), and finally four high tones for the remaining minutes. This mechanism is made possible by an ingenious combination of miniaturised components such as racks, snails and cams, ensuring the precision of the chimes.

Inspired by the first chiming watches introduced at the end of the 17th century, Jaeger-LeCoultre continues this tradition of excellence with its collection of repeater watches for men: models that combine mechanical complexity and refined aesthetics.
