Atmos Marqueterie

An objet d'art in its own right, it has an automatically opening cabinet decorated as a tribute to Austrian painter Gustav Klimt. These exceptional pieces, made of hundreds of precious wood pieces and gold leaf inlays, magnificently set off the painstaking work of the marquetry artist while marking the hours, minutes, months and moon phases.

Marquetry

Several varieties of precious woods are cut into the over 1200 meticulously shaped pieces needed to make these Gustav Klimt-inspired cabinets.

Cabinet opening system

A specially created cabinet with an automatic opening system based on a gear train and barrel that in many respects resemble a watch mechanism. The cabinet doors open to reveal a second, all-glass cabinet containing an Atmos with a regulator movement.

Sophisticated dial

To harmonize with the precious marquetry work decorating the cabinet, the dial was made equally sophisticated, with mother-of-pearl, hour markers of petrified wood and cushion-cut yellow sapphire inlaid at 60 minutes. Disc and moon age in petrified wood inlaid with diamonds, moon gilded with fine gold.

A remarkable feat of inventiveness, the emblematic Atmos clock has served as a reference since 1928 with a serenity matched only by its extraordinary longevity.

With no batteries, no electric current and no winding, the clock has steadily forged its path through the months, years and decades, with rich and innovative designs.
